Koh Samui has no shortage of coffee shops. Most of them are fine. A few are genuinely good. Here’s an honest guide to what’s actually worth your morning.
What to look for
Single origin beans. A barista who actually knows what extraction time means. Milk that’s been steamed properly — not scalded. These are not complicated standards but they separate a genuinely good cup from the tourist-strip version of coffee.
Brewed Awakening — Bangrak
Our coffee truck sits outside the Green Plaza Hotel in Bangrak on Samui’s north-east coast. We’re there Monday to Saturday from 7am. Specialty espresso, single origin filter, Thai-style iced drinks. The apple pie is made fresh. The croissants are baked the same morning. Come for the coffee, stay because the view from the tables outside is exactly what a Koh Samui morning should look like.
The iced brown sugar
It’s not on the menu. Ask for it by name. You’re welcome.
